Three family members were shot dead in their Montclair home Jan. 30, according to the San Bernadino County Sheriff’s department.

The deceased were identified as 68-year-old Sonia Ramirez, her 66-year-old husband George Ramirez, and their 43-year-old son David Ramirez.

Authorities received a call around 9 p.m. from a family member who discovered the bodies and responded to the Ramirez’s home in the 4800 block of Ramona Place, where the three were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said they suspect they were victims of a homicide and have ruled out the possibility of a murder-suicide, according to a Jan. 31 press release from the sheriff’s department.

Department spokesperson Mara Rodriguez said there have been calls to the police regarding this residence in the past, but could not give further details.

According to Fox 11 News and other media outlets, neighbors said they have witnessed what they called suspicious activity at the home involving strange cars and people entering and exiting the home at all hours and disruptive activities in the street.

Rodriguez confirmed deputies had recovered a gun from the home as part of their investigation and suspected it may have been used in the murders. However, she said she could not release information about where it was found. Fox 11 News, however, reported the gun was discovered in a neighbor’s backyard.

CBS Los Angeles additionally reported there is a person of interest in the case, possibly someone known to the family.

Detectives have not released any further details regarding a possible motive.
