LaGuardia Community College honor student Harmonie Kobanghe has received a $30,000 Jack Kent Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship for her commitment to social justice.
As legislation makes its way through the state senate that would remove barriers preventing undocumented immigrants from obtaining financial aid, 10 undocumented students received scholarships that will help them continue their education amid financial struggles.
The Posse Foundation finds youth that are “overlooked by traditional college selection processes,” and gives them the funds for a four-year degree. On Thursday in New York City, 140 posse scholars received their awards, totaling $19 million.
