STAMFORD, Conn.—Thomas Price, a cardiologist, attended Shen Yun Performing Arts’ matinee performance at The Palace Theatre on March 8. During the intermission, Dr. Price shared what he thought of the performance.
New York-based Shen Yun is the world’s premier classical Chinese dance and music company. Since its inception in 2006, Shen Yun’s mission has been to revive traditional Chinese culture and share with audiences the beauty of “China before communism.”
“The dancers are tremendous athletes,” Dr. Price said. “You know, we sometimes forget that the dancers are really athletes, and everyone on that stage is a tremendous athlete. It’s incredible to me.”Shen Yun’s patented animated backdrop also stood out to Dr. Price, who enjoys photography as a hobby. A long-time fan-favorite, the backdrop allows performers to move seamlessly between the stage and background.
“I’m really fascinated by it,” Dr. Price said. “How they do that is wondrous, and every time, they get it right. Nobody’s off to the left or the right. It’s exactly like it should be. You can see a lot of time, a lot of effort, lots of discipline has gone into this, and I’m really enjoying it.”
“I think life and longevity has to be lived with a purpose, some spirituality, and I incorporate that actually into my exercise,” Dr. Price said. “To see it incorporated into entertainment is also good.”
