HOUSTON—When art is used to venerate the divine, a beauty of a higher realm can be achieved. Gwenn Pierre is a minister and when experiencing Shen Yun Performing Arts, she was able to see the meaning of Shen Yun’s name: the beauty of divine beings dancing.
“It was stunning. Absolutely amazing. One of the triumphs of the human spirit and artistic mastery at its best,” said Ms. Pierre, a minister, on Dec. 29.
“The stories involved relationships gone bad, and evil, and all of that is presented in a lot of the stories. But love triumphs, and hopefully that’s what we all can all experience: the triumphant nature of love,” said Ms. Pierre.
To the Shen Yun artists, Ms. Pierre said, “Keep expressing your unique self, because each person has been given something special to share with the world. So no matter who doesn’t accept it, just shine, just be yourself, share with the world what God has given you and people will be blessed. The ultimate motive is love. We do what we do out of love.”
Shen Yun’s performances convey a feeling of hope to its audience—a hope that goodness will always triumph over evil.
“The theme I saw is light. Just let your light shine. In dance, in the singing—even the speakers. It’s about shedding light and sharing love,” said Ms. Pierre.
“I believe that my God is able to bring everything back the way He originally intended his world to be,” Ms. Pierre said. “So I believe God has the solution to every predicament for every problem.”
