BREMEN, Germany—Shen Yun Performing Arts visited Musical Theater Bremen for the first time on April 18 and 19, 2015. Dr. Arthur Becker felt as if he “was transported to another planet,” because Shen Yun is so unusual. Not only that, it was as if he suddenly experienced different eras “the past, present and future.”

It was fascinating,” said Dr. Becker, an ward-winning author of Polish descent and has published more than 14 books. He won the Adelbert-von-Chamisso Price award from the Robert Bosch Foundation in 2009.

In his opinion, “ things that are from antiquity are never lost. This is exactly what Shen Yun tells us.”

“The show is more than a fascinating opera or concert, because it contains philosophical musings, which are in a form that never disappears,” he said.

In Shen Yun one sees “sophisticated dance techniques, an orchestra joining instruments from both the East and West, beautiful costumes, and a stunning back drop ... But digging deeper, one discovers a sea of traditional Chinese culture. Mortals and divine beings merge on stage as one. Principles such as benevolence and justice, propriety and wisdom, respect for the heavens, and divine retribution, all come to life, washing over the audience,” according to the Shen Yun website.

Ms. Barbara Wendt, a singer, saw Shen Yun last year in Berlin and wanted her granddaughter Jessica Kruk to also see the performance.

“I felt a tremendous harmony while sitting among the audience, something that we could definitely use in our lives,” Ms. Wendt said.

“This show puts everything into perspective through dance, beauty, colors and music, and one truly feels it,” she said.

Ms. Kruk was not only impressed with the dance, but the stories.

“I visited China, but Shen Yun tells me something of the culture that I didn’t experience while in that country. This show gave me new impressions and a different perspective a tourist to that country could never experience. It was as if I suddenly became a native of that country,” Ms. Kruk said.

Most importantly, “Shen Yun showed me another side of China, the human side,” said Ms. Kruk.

“Through the universal language of music and dance, Shen Yun weaves a wondrous tapestry of heavenly realms, ancient legends, and modern heroic tales, taking you on a journey through 5,000 years of Chinese culture. Its stunning beauty and tremendous energy leave audiences uplifted and inspired,” tells Shen Yun on its website.
