ESCONDIDO, Calif.—“It was a sight to behold and all senses were engaged,” said Danielle LeBlanc, a council member at the city of San Marcos.

Ms. LeBlanc attended the Shen Yun performance at the California Center for the Arts on March 15.

Shen Yun Performing Arts is a classical Chinese dance and music company based in New York. Elite Chinese artists founded the company in 2006 to revive China’s genuine traditional culture. The company’s 2025 world tour is in full swing and will cover more than 200 cities by the end of the tour.

As a former dancer, Ms. LeBlanc appreciated the “talent and the beauty in this performance.”

“It was very technical, which was really beautiful,“ she said. ”They have amazing technique, amazing feet, amazing acrobatics, everything, and [they are] just very graceful, very poised, very elegant.”

At the heart of a Shen Yun performance is the ancient art form—classical Chinese dance. It is a comprehensive dance system developed through centuries of refinement and has become one of the world’s most athletic and expressive art forms.
“It was just really stunning. The set, the costumes, the talent of the dancers was really incredible,” Ms. LeBlanc said.

“Everything came together so beautifully.”

Shen Yun’s presentation of the beauty and goodness of China before communism has moved audience members worldwide, including thousands of theatergoers in the San Diego area.

After the performance, Ms. LeBlanc presented a proclamation signed by the mayor and all city council members to the representatives of Shen Yun Performing Arts.

“I wanted to thank you guys for bringing this beautiful show to Escondido, which is one of our neighboring cities, and for continuing to encourage the arts in our community.”
