The iconic Randy’s Donut Shop—which began in 1952 with a single store in Inglewood, California—will open its first location in San Diego May 3.
“San Diego is an incredible family city with world-class attractions, and we’re honored to add our world-famous donuts to the list of reasons why families love San Diego so much,” Lawrence Carroll, Randy’s Donuts vice-president, wrote in an email to The Epoch Times.
Known for its oversized large donut-shaped signage, with the addition of the new location in San Diego, the company will now have 29 locations.
For the store’s grand opening, those that stop by between 6 a.m. and noon will get a free glazed donut.
Additionally, the first 50 customers that say the phrase “I love coffee” will receive a Randy’s San Diego travel coffee mug that will be refilled for free with drip coffee at the new shop for the rest of this year.
A raffle will also award another 25 customers with free Randy’s donuts for a year. Other Randy’s merchandise and door prizes will be available throughout the day.
According to Carroll, the company is seeking two additional locations to open in San Diego in the next two years and has plans to open eight more in the city in the future.
The new store is at 3737 Murphy Canyon Road.
