Randy Moss, after being traded from the New England Patriots to the Minnesota Vikings and then on to the Tennessee Titans, noted that Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins wasn’t his best performance.

Moss only caught one ball for 26 yards and was thrown at four times, but offered a moment of humility.

“My debut—it was actually a bad game for me,” Moss told The Tennessean. “I think I just tried to do as much hustling as I could. I just tried to stay within the offense.”

Titans starting quarterback Kerry Collins struggled and was ultimately sidelined toward the end of the first half with a calf injury. Vince Young stepped in and threw for 92 yards, a touchdown, but had two turnovers.

“I felt comfortable out there but I don’t think I had a very good overall game,” Moss added. “I think that my blocking really wasn’t that good, where I wanted it to be. I’ll just go back to the drawing board and come back again next week.”

Both Dolphins quarterbacks Chad Pennington and Chad Henne went out with shoulder and knee injuries, respectively. Third-stringer Tyler Thigpen came in toward the end of the game and led an 85-yard scoring drive.

For the Dolphins, the win marked the end of a five-game at home losing streak and brings their record to 5-4. The Titans record also fell to 5-4, tied for second place in the AFC South with the Jacksonville Jaguars, behind the Indianapolis Colts.

“This game hurts—I just seen how much energy and effort we put in this week, including the coaches,” Moss added. “We just have to look at film tomorrow and correct our mistakes and go back at it again next week.”

Titans coach Jeff Fisher said that they were trying to get Moss more involved in the game.

“There were plays. If you get the right coverage, he gets the ball,“ Fisher said in the postgame press conference. ”If you don’t get the right coverage, someone else gets the ball.”
