Dozens of Oklahoma homes were destroyed over the weekend in a wildfire fueled by dry conditions and strong winds.

On Saturday, all 600 residents of the town of Glencoe were evacuated but were allowed to return on Sunday, reported Oklahoma-based KOCO television.

Meanwhile, a grass fire near the town of Luther destroyed 56 structures and burned 2,600 acres by late Saturday, reported NBC News.

Officials suspect that the Luther fire may have been caused by arson. Police received a 911 call from a witness who saw a man toss a newspaper that was lit on fire from a pickup truck on Friday.

Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin toured the fire damage in Creek County, which was also ravaged by fires.

Jim Sparr, a resident of Creek County who owned several buildings, lost basically everything in the fire, including antique cars and other vehicles.

“I had all these trucks ... I’ve been collecting stuff for 30 years,” he told KRMG television. “This was my retirement fund. Besides losing everything, I lost a big part of my future.”
