It speaks volumes that Schroeder has her family behind her. In fact, that’s just the half of it: Schroeder, truth be told, comes from a dedicated military family. “My dad was actually in the Army,“ Schroeder revealed to enraptured fans. ”He was a Green Beret medic, and my little brother Hunter, he’s in the Marines now.”
It seems that there may be a little friendly family competition at play, not to mention Schroeder is something of an advocate for women in the military. “There is no way I am going to let the boys have all the fun,” she joked.
Schroeder has been in the public eye since being scouted by a casting director at the tender age of 3. Schroeder’s mother was approached when the pair accompanied a cousin to an acting audition. Acting roles poured in shortly thereafter, and Schroeder never looked back. Until now.
“As an actress I’ve been kidnapped, gone blind, nearly eaten by lions and murdered on more than one occasion,” Schroeder shared. “I tormented Lizzie McGuire’s little brother on the Disney channel, was a dolphin trainer, the first female soccer player on an all boys team and Harrison Ford once rescued me during an intense home invasion.”
Acting has been exciting for Schroeder. She has had the privilege of both representing and working with characters from many different walks of life. The veil between fantasy and reality can be a fine one, but Schroeder is craving a deeper authenticity in her real-life experiences.
”That’s exciting and all,“ she continued, referring to her acting career, ”but in January I decided to raise my right hand and swear into the United States Army.” Schroeder is well qualified, with her academic credentials including a degree in Criminal Justice. She was quickly accepted into the fold.
Advocacy is her main motivator. “College opened my eyes to global injustices,” Schroeder shared, citing human trafficking as high on her list of major concerns, and a subject upon which she has penned several papers. “As an Army Officer I intend to learn skills I can later apply when I’m on a team helping these victims,” she continued.
Kudos to the young actress, who is aware of the potential for using her voice to champion causes close to her heart. “Serving my country will give my voice more validity,” the soon-to-be army cadet put forward. “I can better serve and advocate for veterans once I am a part of their community.”
The military is a family, Schroeder continued. From the familial love of her supportive relatives, to the family of acting colleagues and fans she has amassed over the years, to the military family she is soon to join, we’re sure that Schroeder will be welcomed with open arms and fulfill her dream to make a difference.
To her brothers, and everybody who follows her with love and pride, she assures: “I’ll make you proud.”
