We’re frozen to our seats: Elsa, Anna, and Kristoff are back and they’re potentially teetering on the brink of trouble.

Or so the epic teaser trailer suggests!

Children (and adults) everywhere have been anticipating a sequel to the beloved original movie, Frozen, since its release in 2013. It’s finally here, and it’s been six long years in the making.

The original blockbuster grossed over $1.2 billion worldwide, and the sequel is set to be just as huge a success as its predecessor.

So, what is happening to our beloved gang of comrades?

Disney’s first released teaser trailer is hauntingly vague: there’s no dialogue, no songs, nothing. Just a series of epic landscapes and serious, stoney-faced expressions on our main characters’ faces.

Queen Elsa stands on a desolate beach staring into a wall of giant, ferocious waves. She musters her courage and runs straight into them, using her freezing powers to build icy ridges so that she can scale the towering waves. She tries, and fails. Tries, and fails again, tumbling into the icy water below.

Princess Anna appears to be contemplating a dire situation: the trailer sees her leaping bravely from the edge of a cliff into unknown peril. Kristoff is then seen riding his loyal reindeer Sven through dense woodland with a look of extreme concentration on his face.

What on earth is going on? Are our beloved heroes in danger?

The teaser trailer comes to an end with Anna brandishing Kristoff’s sword and swiping at an unknown threat behind the camera’s lens. Are Disney keeping schtum about their cleverly crafted characters’ fate? It would seem so! Plot details for the sequel have yet to be released, so the mystery remains intact, for now.

To herald even more changes, there are some new voice actors to look forward to in the sequel: Westworld actress Evan Rachel Wood and This Is Us actor Sterling K. Brown will join the cast, which already includes Idina Menzel (Elsa), Kristen Bell (Anna), and Jonathan Groff (Kristoff).
Josh Gad, who provides the voice for the movie series’ adorable snowman, Olaf, has had an amazing time filming the second movie: “Nothing is more exciting than getting back in the booth with this incredible team,” he said, sharing a photo from inside the Frozen recording booth on Instagram.
“The amazing people at @disneyanimation have created a story that carries on the incredible legacy of the original #Frozen,” the voice actor continued. He also hinted that the characters we already know and love have been developed in “new and exciting ways.”

We can’t wait to see what we’re in for!

But we’re going to have to exercise patience: Frozen 2 will be released in movie theaters countrywide on Nov. 22, 2019.

To quote Olaf, albeit slightly inaccurately: “Some movies are worth melting for.”
