Darci Lynne and Her Yodeling Puppet Leave the Hosts of Pickler & Ben Grinning Ear to Ear

The whole world knows her name. And ever since Darci Lynne Farmer’s extraordinary comeback routines on America’s Got Talent: The Champions, the world is aware that her talents are not just one, but numerous! The young entertainer is not only a very skilled ventriloquist, but also a gifted and versatile singer in her own right.

Darci sang the delicate opera classic “O Mio Babbino Caro” during one performance on AGT: The Champions, to the shock, surprise, and sheer delight of both the audience and judges. Nobody knew that the young singer had mastered opera. And Darci is not a one-trick pony, either: in her acts, she combines her two extraordinary talents into one multifaceted performance, with her puppet singing in their very own voice and Darci using hers for comic contrast.

Each puppet seems to have their own unique personality, and thus their own favorite musical genre, too. Some preference the soothing tones of Ella Fitzgerald, for example; others are loyal to traditional Americana. Darci herself is a huge fan of country music. But did you know that Darci can yodel?

The young ventriloquist has a puppet named Katie who adores singing in a country style, and “I Want to Be a Cowboy’s Sweetheart” is her go-to song of choice. The song is fast and fun, and employs some lengthy, complicated yodeling parts. Darci can yodel in her own voice, but she also yodels as Katie (yes, this means she has her mouth closed!).

Darci had the opportunity to showcase Katie’s extraordinary vocal stylings after receiving an invitation to visit the set of the Nashville-based talk show Pickler & Ben.

Pickler & Ben is hosted by country singer Kellie Pickler and Ben Aaron, and often welcomes country music performers to Tennessee’s fondly nicknamed “Music City” to play on the show.

Darci does not bill herself as a country singer per se, but has been welcomed into the fold after sharing her considerable vocal prowess. She’s even performed at the Grand Ole Opry, a weekly country music stage concert in Nashville.

Darci joined hosts Kellie and Ben for a short interview before her performance. During the chat, the excited young performer referenced America’s Got Talent as the greatest experience of her life. She then took the stage with her exuberant puppet Katie to sing the classic country song. And boy, has practice made perfect: her yodeling skills were beyond compare!

In footage of the show, Kellie and Ben’s faces are clearly visible throughout Darci’s performance. Country music aficionado Kellie, in particular, couldn’t keep the grin from her face.

“That was amazing!” she cried, as Darci’s song drew to a close and the audience whooped and cheered in emphatic support for the young entertainer.

Darci Lynne Farmer just keeps blowing us out of the water. What’s next for the young singer, we wonder? Synth-pop? Heavy metal? We certainly can’t wait to find out!
