As the popularity of home fitness products continues to rise, we’ve compiled a selection of luxurious equipment for you to consider, so that exercising can enhance your physical health while the brilliant designs nourish the soul.
Four in five people in the United States own at least one home fitness device, according to a 2021 Statista Global Consumer Survey. While we don’t need statistics to discuss sports equipment for the home, it’s nice to know that we’re not alone in this endeavor. Perhaps this statistic and the rise of market value of sports equipment have led to luxury brands developing beautifully designed products for the home fitness zone.
Dior’s recent collaboration with Italian fitness brand Technogym is one example of high-end workout products. But luxury fashion brands are not the only companies putting beauty at the forefront of their fitness equipment.
“Thoughtful, user-friendly, elegant design makes simple tools luxurious and easy to use,” iFIT expert Colleen Logan told Radiant Life. “I think whatever encourages workout consistency is luxury. Old, creaky, uncomfortable equipment that doesn’t have any streaming content connecting users to an expert source is unfortunate.” While working out at home can already be seen as a luxury, connecting to professional trainers is even more luxurious—and Logan believes that this luxury should be accessible.
NOHrD Sprintbok Curved Manual Treadmill
The classic Sprintbok by NOHrD is known for winning a Concours Lépine design award for its slender, curved form and elegant wood frame. While it offers the advantages of a conventional treadmill, it goes well beyond the norm. The belt consists of flexible wooden slats and precision ball-bearing engineering, powered exclusively by the user’s legs, so the runner determines the pace; the treadmill isn’t locked into set speeds. Vibration-absorbing natural rubber is used in the belt to allow for quiet running. A screen shows performance data, including distance, time, and speed, and the user can integrate the Sprintbok App, with three modes—free training, scenery runs, and fitness trails—into their training .WaterRower Rowing Machine, Designed for Easy Storage
Speaking of the American fitness brand WaterRower, its rowing machines come in a large variety of wood tints, so the user can select one to match the interior of their home. They’re described as functional fitness furniture because they’re elegant when set up for use, but they can be stored in an upright position and take up no more space than the width of a dining-room chair. The ease of setup makes quick indoor rowing sessions possible. The WaterRower uses the power of water in contrast to traditional fan and magnetic rowing machines. The feel and sound are equivalent to the experience of rowing a boat. It replicates not only the physiological dynamics of rowing, but also the aesthetic pleasure. It harnesses the power of water to provide smooth resistance, avoids jerking or jarring, generates a smooth connection, and enables uniform strokes—an important element to work the muscle groups evenly.
The WaterRower is tagged “Made in the USA,” and its hardwood comes from renewable sources in the Appalachian Mountains.
Dior-Designed Technogym Fitness Equipment
Following the release of Dior Vibe, a sportswear line designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri for the Dior 2022 Cruise show, luxury French fashion label Dior collaborated with Italian fitness equipment and digital technology brand Technogym to redesign their products. The limited-edition collection they released earlier this year includes a state-of-the-art connected treadmill, a multifunctional weight bench (including accessories such as dumbbells), and an exercise ball. The Dior and Technogym Limited Edition line of high-end gym equipment comes emblazoned with the Dior star—the founder’s lucky charm—as well as the Christian Dior name and signature horizontal stripes.NordicTrack Vault: Comprehensive At-home Fitness Mirror
A comprehensive home fitness mirror, the NordicTrack Vault is a high-tech home gym that combines the expertise of a personal trainer with the convenience of working out from the comfort and safety of your own home. The Vault has a sleek, elegant freestanding design with interior storage that includes shelving to store workout equipment such as dumbbells and accessories for yoga and strength training. The rotating mirror on the exterior can be used to bring interactive connected iFIT trainers into your home for workout sessions; it functions as a normal mirror, but when connected to the iFIT app, it transforms when the user is in training.“While in session, you can partly see yourself and fully see your trainer,” says iFIT expert Colleen Logan. “For strength training, getting the form right is really important. It’s great when you can see what the trainer is doing and what you’re doing at the same time; iFIT tech streams live, in-studio, and global workouts. The global ones are shot around the world and can run as a series, such as worldwide marathon workouts that we shoot on race day.”
Through these streamed workouts, users enjoy visually beautiful and culturally rich stories. They can even access the app’s sessions that use Google Maps, which has partnered with iFIT, and users can imitate the run from their home to a desired destination; the iFIT app streams the Google Maps Street View, and the topography of the path is copied to the inclines and declines of the Vault machine.
