Date: March 16, 2020 Location: Beijing International Airport
Terminal 3-D of Beijing Capital International Airport was jam-packed on March 16 with Chinese passengers returning from countries hard hit by the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus, commonly known as novel coronavirus. Beijing authorities had previously announced that returnees from overseas would be quarantined for 14 days at their own expense. - Woman in the background: Right now, the airport staff want passengers to go down and get their luggage as soon as possible, but the situation is out of control. There are too many people. There are too many people down there. We wanted to control them by dividing them into groups of 10 or 20 at a time, but it was impossible. The passengers tried to all rush down at once, and now I’m in line to get on this bus.
But the airport bus is like this, it doesn’t leave immediately. It’s impossible for us all to get on right away. And it means that the passenger backlog in the airport lobby is still very large.
The airport actually stopped the elevators to prevent a passengers stampede, but there is no way to get the passengers down one group at a time. The staff is also explaining the situation to the passengers, but there are just so many passengers, and now they’re all stuck here.
