Of all the minor annoyances in life, potholes can be one of the worst. Besides giving the driver an unceremonious jolt, they caused car damage to the tune of $6.4 billion in 2013. One day there could be an app to solve that.
NEW YORK—New York drivers are well aware of the problem. They navigate cracks and potholes down their bumpy, congested rides on three out of four major city roads.
Soon Indians would be able to call emergency “road ambulances” to fix the roads that visibly suffer from potholes and urgently need repair for the smooth movement of vehicular traffic.
The city’s Department of Transportation (DOT) is testing a new pothole-filling machine that requires fewer crewmembers and would block only one lane of traffic.
