Normandy

D-day 75: nations honor veterans, the memory of fallen troops.

The first visitors center was inaugurated at the Normandy American Cemetery in 2007. A half dozen others have since been established.

I know after twenty years a lot has changed, but I am certain that Normandy is still an amazing part of France due to these five factors.

On June 6 1944, more than 150,000 Allied troops landed in Normandy. Their number rose to 1.5m over the next six weeks. With them came millions of tons of equipment, ranging from munitions, vehicles, food, and fuel to prefabricated floating harbours.
