Is it possible for Confucius Institutes, a Beijing-controlled educational program cited by Chinese officials as a tool to extend the regime’s “soft power,” to follow both Chinese law and the law of the hosting nation?

A former instructor at the McMaster University Confucius Institute has filed a complaint alleged discrimination.

A Chinese woman who came to Canada to teach Chinese at McMaster University says she was required to sign a statement promising not to practice Falun Gong in order to obtain her position.

“My wife and I liked the water one and the drum ones of course were spectacular. The drums especially are very spectacular and the drumming is very difficult.”
