Developments in the Georgia appeals process and Florida documents case have made delays even more likely.

The jury instructions, indictment, testimony, and the judge’s background have all prompted speculation about a possible appeal.

‘Merchan just delivered the coup de grace instruction. He said that there is no need to agree on what occurred,’ law professor Jonathan Turley said.

Former Federal Election Commission Chairman Brad Smith said on social media that the defense withdrew him after the judge imposed too many restrictions.

He also ruled that potential witness and former FEC member Bradley Smith will not be allowed to give his opinion on the case or on federal election law.

A ruling on presidential immunity by the Supreme Court is expected by late June. However, initial oral arguments begin on Thursday.
