Destiny has been one of the most heavily marketed games of the year, being a new IP from Bungie, makers of the ever popular Halo series.

There’s no disputing the massive appeal of the Halo franchise. The game started on the original Xbox, and is continuing to be a standout title Microsoft. The popularity is so great that it’s being released on mobile devices, there are documentaries being released about the game, and even a live-action TV show will be coming out soon. But it’s just a video game, so none of it could ever really happen, right?

In a very real way, it’s nice to know the age of the high powered publicity stunt is not over. When onlookers in London gazed up at a gigantic Halo glyph in the sky, most had any idea Microsoft was launching Halo 4. In an event reminiscent of the 1938 Orson Welles War of the World’s radio broadcast.
