The California governor’s budget proposal is an attempt to balance out what his office estimates is a $37.9 billion shortfall.

As officials remain divided over solutions, multiple LAPD busts in a 24-hour period point to an entrenched problem.

“It is gratifying to see these dollars going to work helping some of the most vulnerable people suffering on our streets,” the mayor said.

Sacramento, which has the third most chronically homeless nationwide, has been sued recently by its district attorney and residents over how it handles homelessness.

The governor touted the state’s efforts to address 37 issues—including mental health, crime, and homelessness, among others.

After a review of surveillance footage, campus police reportedly identified the suspect as a 40-year-old homeless man known to the community.

‘We need to see a sense of urgency. We cannot wait until 2026,’ Mr. Newsom said. ‘People will literally lose their lives.’

“This whole thing is very interrelated, it’s very preventable, and it was directly caused by poor public policy decisions,” he said.

Housing types allowed include hotel and motel conversions, apartments, commercial building repurposing, and new construction.
