Fans of Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, Calif., are posting on Twitter and Reddit their anger regarding price increases for parking, park admission, fast passes, and other park amenities.

Disney ticket prices vary each day, with the cheapest one-day single-person park-hopping ticket to visit both the California Adventure and Disneyland Resort parks rising 9.2 percent, from $164 to $179.

The cheapest ticket to visit only one of the parks remains at $104. However, to add a park hopping option—which allows entry to both Disneyland and California Adventure— the price has increased from $60 to $65.

“I feel like Disney is intentionally trying to price certain families out of their parks. They only want big spenders, those willing to drop ridiculous amounts of money. They just don’t care,” a Disney fan known as Sydney wrote on Twitter.

“You have to understand that if you have kids and they love Disney, it’s heartbreaking to deny them access to the happiest place on earth. And Disney knows this,” Raven, one Los Angeles resident, wrote on Twitter.

Some fans on Reddit said they are less enraged by the price increases, and made excuses for the company.

“Disney is a luxury and not a necessity. Price increases happen. It is what it is,” one such Reddit user wrote.

Another user said price hikes have “less to do with price gouging and more to do with managing the amount of space they have in the park. Disneyland has a very unique problem in that no matter how high they set prices, park attendance will be staggering.”

Aside from park pass increases, Genie+, a paid service to reserve ride times in advance and skip long lines, has also increased depending on the day. The standard Genie+ ticket ranges from $20 to $25. Parking at the resort has also increased from $25 to $30 per day.

Several food and beverage prices have also increased by at least 50 cents throughout the park as well, including Dole Whips which rose from $5.99 to $6.49, an 8.3 percent increase.

Ad-free monthly subscriptions for Disney+, the company’s streaming service, will increase in December from $7.99 to $10.99. At the same time, a new subscription option will become available for $6.99, but removes the luxury of no ads.

On top of price increases, many visitors to the park have complained about broken down rides, excessive waiting times, or closed rides due to Genie Plus pass holders completely booking up time slots.

Another Reddit user, who is a dedicated parks fan often visiting both resorts in California and Florida said this past February, she and her family visited one of the parks for three days and described their experience as “pretty miserable from start to finish.”
