Matthew Kirschenheiter, ex-husband of “The Real Housewives of Orange County” star Gina Kirschenheiter, is on the mend just days after suffering a heart attack.
Married in 2010, the Kirschenheiters had three children: Nicholas, 12, Sienna, 11, and Luca, 9. They separated in 2018, and their divorce was finalized the following year. Matthew Kirschenheiter went on to remarry, tying the knot in April 2024 with his longtime girlfriend, Britt.
Gina Kirschenheiter, who is now dating fellow real estate agent Travis Mullen, credited her ex-husband’s new wife for saving his life.
“Thank god Britt rushed him to the hospital, and all the hospital staff acted quickly!!” she wrote.
“The kids were very shaken up, but thankfully, we can be smiling [because] he will be okay! He came home today. The kids and Trav and I are so happy to have their dad back.”
She went on to note that the health scare has prompted her family to adopt healthier lifestyle habits.
‘Tomorrow Is Not Promised’
Gina Kirschenheiter, 40, expressed gratitude to those who checked in on her family in their time of need. The television personality also received an outpouring of support in the comment section, including from her fellow “Real Housewives” castmates.
“Oh no! So glad he is going to be ok,” wrote Vicki Gunvalson, who was a main cast member on the show up until its 13th season.
“Sending you guys big hugs!” added Jennifer Pedranti, who joined the show in 2023. “So happy to hear he is ok. I can’t imagine how scary.”
“Gina! How scary. Thank God he is ok,” commented Gretchen Rossi, who left the series in 2013.

Gina Kirschenheiter joined the cast of “The Real Housewives of Orange County” for the show’s 13th season, which premiered in July 2018—just a few months after she separated from her husband.
They had a volatile relationship leading up to their divorce.
In September 2019, Matthew Kirschenheiter, then 35, was charged with two felony counts of domestic violence stemming from an assault that occurred that June.
The financial planner pleaded guilty on April 20, 2021, and was subsequently sentenced to 180 days in jail.
Gina Kirschenheiter read a victim statement during the hearing, sharing that she feared for her life during the June 2019 incident.
“I thought I was going to die. I still get chills thinking about how I begged you to, ‘Stop. Think about the kids.’ And you responded by saying, ‘Your mom is going to die tonight,’” she said.
“It echoes in my brain, and it sinks deep in my heart. That night, it literally felt like I was in a house with a stranger whom I’d never met before. Your eyes were completely black, and you were not Matt. It was so hard for me to believe that it was even you, but it was.”
“Say what you need to say. Stand up for yourself,” she wrote. “It will hurt just as bad as not standing up for yourself, but the long-term pain will be lessened exponentially.”
In her most recent Instagram post announcing her ex-husband’s health scare, Gina Kirschenheiter concluded her message by sharing an encouraging word of advice for others navigating a co-parenting relationship with a former partner.
“For anyone out there struggling to co-parent, remember you are all a family, and what matters most is that you all get to be there for your kids,” she wrote. “Tomorrow is not promised; today is a gift.”
