Paris Hilton has lashed out at the “cruel and hateful” people who criticized a photo of her 8-month-old son on social media.
The “Stars are blind” star captioned the photo: “My precious angel baby Phoenix’s first time in NYC.”
The post, which has raked in over one million likes at the time of writing, garnered negative comments surrounding the size of the baby’s head from some followers.
Hilton Responds With a Statement
In a heartfelt note shared on her Instagram story on Monday, the new mom wrote:
“Living life in the spotlight, comments are inevitable, but targeting my child, or anyone else’s for that matter, is unacceptable.
“This hurts my heart more deeply than words can describe. I’ve worked hard to cultivate an environment that is all about love, respect and acceptance, and I expect the same in return.”
The 42-year-old singer opened up about the dilemma she faced regarding posting about her baby.
On one hand, if she didn’t post, she feared people would doubt her worth as a mother. On the other hand, when she did post, she was met with insensitive comments.
“I’m a proud working mom and my baby is perfectly healthy, adorable and angelic,” she continued.
Ms. Hilton, who stated she had always dreamed of becoming a mother, lovingly referred to her only son as her “world” and “the biggest blessing” in her life.
On top of the cynical comments, the perfume mogul’s post was inundated with an outpouring of supportive messages.
One fan wrote: “I don’t usually comment on these kind of posts but why would anyone slam, shame or make fun of a child? That just says a lot about our society.”
