Marshall Rose, the husband of Emmy-award-winning actress Candice Bergen, has died at 88 years old.
Meanwhile, Bergen, 78, and Rose were set to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary in June after tying the knot back in 2000.
“I’m always grateful when I get offered something that engages me, it’s for the right amount of time, and I don’t have to leave my husband for more than a week or two. That’s really all I ask.”
Early Career
Born in 1937 in Brighton Beach, New York, Rose spent his entire life in the Big Apple, where he studied economics at City College and earned a law degree from New York University. He became a well-established real estate developer, founding The Georgetown Company in 1978. His responsibilities included overseeing the development of Frank Gehry’s IAC building, the renovation of Madison Square Garden, and three city charter schools.
Rose served as active civic leader and trusted advisor to non-profit institutions throughout his career, with his “proudest” contribution being his 30-year tenure on the board of the New York Public Library.
“Friends and colleagues looked to him as a mentor, and he consistently modeled a life worth emulating,” read his obituary.
“His effortless gravitas paired with his quick humor and genuine respect for all individuals made him a gifted and compelling leader.”
Career aside, Rose is remembered as a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and dog father to his Goldendoodle.
Meanwhile, Bergen credits Rose to giving her a second chance at love, following the death of her first husband, Louis Malle, in 1995.
Even in his final years, the two cherished every moment together, with Bergen boasting about their intimate evenings enjoying dinner and watching “The West Wing.”
