In many regions of China, drenching rain and floods have weakened the earth, roads, buildings, and brick walls.
On Aug. 8, a landslide occurred in Yibin City of Sichuan Province. Huge rocks rolled down off a hill, smashing three vehicles and injuring at least three people.
In Xi’an city of Shaanxi Province, 10 meters of the city wall at Qin Palace—a king’s residence built in 1374 during the Ming Dynasty—collapsed after heavy rain on Aug. 8, injuring at least four people.
On Aug. 9, Xiaogan County of Hubei Province was inundated in water after a rainstorm. A brick wall collapsed, destroying many cars parked along the wall.
For instance, on Aug. 7, strong winds peeled off the exterior walls of two high rise buildings in Baynnur City, Inner Mongolia.
