In April, the White House had announced that waivers allowing China, India, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Turkey, Italy, and Greece to import oil from Iran despite U.S. sanctions would expire in May, saying that the move “aims to bring Iran’s oil exports to zero, denying the regime its principal source of revenue.”
On June 27, the Financial Times (FT), citing data from TankerTrackers.com, reported that oil tanker Salina, a vessel capable of carrying 1 million barrels of oil, docked in China’s Jianzhou Bay on June 20 and unloaded oil for the next two days.
