Bob Newhart ‘Big Bang Theory:’ In May, Bob Newhart will make a guest appearance on “The Big Bang Theory.”
Bob Newhart is going to guest-star on “The Big Bang Theory” to play the childhood hero of Sheldon.
The star of the “Bob Newhart Show” and “Newhart” will play as Professor Proton, who hosted a science television show that Sheldon adored as a child, reported TVLine. The episode is slated to air on CBS on May 2.
In the episode, Sheldon tracks the professor down and finds out he can be hired for events and parties.
Bill Prady and Steven Molaro, the producers of “Big Bang,” revealed that “we have a really great actor coming up,” according to The Clicker website, likely referring to Newhart. “He’s not from the world of science or science fiction.”
“The part he’s going to play is someone (Sheldon and Leonard) loved when they were kids,” Molaro said. “We’re really excited about it.”
This will be Newhart’s first TV appearance since he was seen on “NCIS” in 2011 and before that, in “Desperate Housewives” in 2005.
