A couple weeks after news was reported that the hacking group “Lizard Squad” had released an online stress testing service or DDoS tool, another hacking website has appeared in the news. Enter, “Hacker’s List”. Interestingly enough, the site was offline earlier today, with a “Error 522 - Connection timed out” message appearing on the website.
President Obama’s top technology adviser, Megan J. Smith, a 50-year-old M.I.T-trained mechanical engineer and former Google exec, is working hard to bring her experience from Silicon Valley into the Obama administration.
At NASA’s Langley Research Center in Hampton, engineers have been developing an inflatable heat shield that looks a lot like a large version of a stacking ring of doughnuts that children play with. The NASA engineers believe that a lightweight, inflatable heat shield could be used to slow the craft in entering a Martian atmosphere that is much thinner than Earth’s.
Today, in New York City, an antique Apple-1 personal computer made out of Steve Job’s garage 38 years ago was sold for $365,000 at Christie’s auction house, apparently thousands of dollars under the auction house’s lowest estimate. Previously, Christie’s had forecast the sale of today’s vintage Apple-1 machine to go between $400,000 and $600,000.
