Always wanted to live stream your epic base jumping GoPro videos instead of shooting the footage and uploading it later?
With Livestream’s new iOS app update, your viewers can now get a live-action, GoPro-lens’ view as you twist and turn your way through canyons.
Livestream, a major real-time video broadcasting site, added GoPro camera connectivity to their iOS app on Monday, October 6.
“Today’s release marks the latest in Livestream’s efforts to democratize live video. Livestream is the first app that allows anyone to convert the world’s most versatile camera into a wireless live broadcasting system,” said Livestream CEO and Co-founder, Max Haot in a press release.
iPhone and GoPro owners will be able to connect the two devices via the GoPro’s Wi-Fi network, live stream a video recording, and share it instantly on the iPhone.
Naturally, the iPhone has to be in range of the GoPro camera and 4G mobile networks for the live stream to work.
The Livestream app also supports live video filters, allows posting of snapshots to the feed, and the inclusion of chat functions with viewers whether standing still or jumping off a cliff.
Afraid of accidentally interfering with your stream after you hit the “go live” button? Just access the app’s locking feature, and stow away your iPhone some where safe.
“People are watching on Livestream because they want to be connected, they want to be there,” said Haot in an interview with CNET.
“What does it feel like to do a wing-suit jump and to see the jump at the same time?
“It’s live TV, and it makes you feel part of it.”
To demonstrate the new app, Haot and fellow co-founder Phil Worthington will be live streaming kite surfing on Monday from 1:00 p.m. EDT to 4:00 p.m. EDT (10:00 a.m. PDT to 1:00 p.m. PDT).
