Xbox Games with Gold did its two-week update Monday, and it’s time for the next free game: BioShock Infinite.
BioShock Infinite, which is a 6.49 GB download, is replacing Tomb Raider on the Xbox 360.
According to IGN, “The third game in the popular Bioshock series, BioShock Infinite breaks away from the underwater setting of the first two games to take players into a floating city held aloft by dirigibles. The game is set in 1912. You play as Booker DeWitt, a disgraced former private detective who’s picked up a new case.”
It has a mostly favorable rating, with IGN giving the game a 9.5/10.
Before it closed down last year, BioShock Infinite is the last game made by Irrational Games.
According to GameSpot:
BioShock Infinite was originally released for consoles and PC two years ago this month. The game has shipped around 7 million copies to date, while Irrational Games effectively shut down in February 2014.
Though no new games in the series have been announced, development on the BioShock franchise is now being led by 2K Games in Marin, California. According to Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of 2K Games parent company Take-Two, the BioShock series has not yet reached its critical or commercial potential.
Rayman Legends, which is a 3.4 GB download, is also available on Games with Gold.
And, according to Microsoft, Games with Gold for April will see twice as many free games.
“And if these three amazing titles aren’t enough for you, we have one more big announcement: Since the program’s launch at E3 2013, you’ve collectively downloaded over 100,000,000 Games with Gold games! It’s definitely clear to us that Xbox Live Gold members love to game, and Games with Gold fuels that passion. To commemorate this huge milestone, Xbox is giving you more of what you love, with twice the free Games in April! Next month, you can look forward to four free games on Xbox 360, and two free games on Xbox One,” says Microsoft in its March update.
