According to the latest report, ABC’s Scandal was able to dominate the ratings for Thursday’s Halloween shows. Most other shows saw a decline, while Scandal was able to actually find an uptick during the holiday. It is a bit of a harsh reality, but the high-note is not much to actually be thrilled for given the overall ratings.
Scandal was able to match last week’s season-low with 9.2 million total viewing and a 2.9 rating among the 18-49 demographic. Grey’s Anatomy lead-in slipped nearly 7% to find it’s own all-time low during the all-hallows eve.
The only shows that was able to beat it’s previous week’s showing was NBC’s Parenthood along with the CW’s Reign. Sean Saves actually saw a rise in its own numbers thanks to a larger lead-in due to a Halloween-themed SNL special that was broadcast. The bump did not last long enough to help the Michael J. Fox Show, as it slipped down another peg.
The biggest loser (no pun intended) was the X Factor, which saw a 3.2 million and 0.8 rating amongst the all-important 18-49. Factor was tied with shows like Vampire Diaries and was beaten out by ABC’s annual flagstaff of It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. The SNL holiday showcase pulled in double the ratings of X Factor, which had been pushed to Thursday thanks to the baseball preemption.
Compared to NBC’s The Voice, the Factor had only half the numbers, and is continuing to slump heavily in the overall ratings. It is a worrisome trend for the dwindling few that still follow the show. There are some viewers that may watch via tv streams and those ratings may not be accounting for in reports.
Of course, Big Bang Theory still pulled in a respectable 11.5 million viewers, with a 2.5 in the 18-45 demographic. Apparently enough people are still interested in the same old faux-science jokes and humdrum storylines of will-they/won’t they retain friendships.
Elementary and The Millers both pulled in over 9 million to stay in respectable positions.
