An upstate New York man was arrested and is being accused of threatening to kill President Barack Obama and schoolchildren at an elementary school, according to local media reports on Sunday.
The U.S. Secret Service and local officials investigated and ultimately arrested Brent Dickinson of Saratoga Springs, according to the Utica Observer-Dispatch newspaper. The local district office said the 33-year-old man “intended to murder” Obama and the children.
Dickinson posted threatening messages on a White House website on Friday, which led to the investigation, according to the newspaper. He was charged with making terrorist threats and after he was jailed, his bail was set for $50,000.
He was staying at a hotel in the city, according to FOX23 television. “Hi, this is the attendant of room number nine. I may or may not be available. I’m being detained by the Saratoga Springs Police Department,” said his hotel answering machine message.
