Teacher student makeup brawl: A teacher and a student got into a fight in a Stockton, Calif., classroom over makeup, which was captured on video.
A teacher at Cesar Chavez High School told 15-year-old Marlina Martinez to put her makeup away before it escalated into an argument, reported ABC News
The teacher then confiscated the cosmetics and it turned into a physical altercation.
Martinez alleges that the teacher, who was not named, pushed her. The two eventually ended up on the floor and students tried to separate them
“She pushed me and then she started going like (swings). Right after she pushed me, she started hitting me,” Martinez told the station. She added that “I hit her back.”
The teacher was injured and is on paid leave while Martinez was suspended for five days and faces expulsion. She was also arrested for assault.
In the video, it is unclear who started the fight.
“You put your hands on me right now again and I swear to God I’m going to hit you,” Martinez said.
The teacher replied: “You put your hands on me and I'll put my hands on you.”
Stockton Unified School District spokesperson Dianne Barth described it as a “ regrettable incident and very unusual.”
“ I don’t recall an incident like this happening in the last several years,” she added, according to KARE-11.
