Shalom Harlow is a supermodel and actress from New York. She has graced the front covers of Cosmopolitan, Vogue, Marie Claire, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, 10 and New York Magazine.
Harlow was the face of Versace, Chanel, L‘Oréal, Isaac Mizrahi, Anne Klein, DKNY, Giorgio Armani, Chloé among other top fashion brands. So you’ll think she knows a thing or two about fashion?
What you may not know is that Shalom has been an advocate of eco fashion for a decade and has featured in magazines as an expert on eco shopping.
In this short video Shalom is taking us on a tour of her favorite green fashion boutiques in Lower East Side. She meets with pioneer retailer Kate Mcgregor. Kate is the founder of KAIGHT, a boutique stocking independent designers with an emphasis on local production, organic textiles, reclaimed materials, fair-trade or zero waste.
Shalom visits Swedish brand Ekovaruhuse, also known as House of Organic. Shalom found herself seduced by their sumptuous evening dresses.
Finally the actress goes to Narnia, a vintage boutique voted one of the Best Vintage Stores in America by Elle magazine. The owner Molly Spaulding travels the world searching for the best finds. Narnia stores pieces from all eras, from handwoven textiles, worn-in leather to natural fabrics. Narnia also features famous cutting-edge designers such as Marni and Dries Van Noten.
Shalom could not resist Narnia’s feminine upcycled print pieces and took some home.
