Actor Steven Seagal appeared alongside Russian President Vladimir Putin this week to open up a martial arts center in Moscow, it was reported.
The two attended the ceremony to open up the Sambo-70 center on Thursday, which includes a sports school and a martial arts fight venue, according to RSport.ru.
Seagal is apparently popular in Russia, enjoying success with his films and he is often shown on television, the website points out.
“Putin and Seagal have long been friends, and they regularly meet each other,” Putin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was quoted by the ITAR-TASS news agency as saying.
Seagal was in Russia “on business,” Peskov added, according to the Daily Caller publication. The spokesman made the statements when Putin and Seagal went to a judo competition on Wednesday.
Last August, Putin and Seagal were pictured together at a mixed martial arts competition in Russia.
