Sean Duffy was a member of MTV’s Real World: Boston in 1997. Now he has been elected to the House of Representatives, representing a Wisconsin district.

The Republican Congressman-elect was the former Ashland County district attorney and took 52 percent of the vote to Democratic opponent State Sen. Julie Lassa’s 44 percent, the Associated Press reported.

Now, Duffy, a former lumberjack, joins the new GOP majority in the House.

Time Magazine notes that Duffy, 39, was the “token conservative” and fought often with his more liberal housemates when he was on Real World.

In 2002, he was a contestant on MTV’s Real World-Road Rules Challenge, where he met his wife.

He said that his stint on television wouldn’t affect his standing among voters. “People aren’t concerned about a reality show from 15 years ago,” he told The Daily Caller months ago.

Duffy will represent Wisconsin’s 7th congressional district, which includes parts of northwest and central Wisconsin.
