More Samsung phones are getting Google’s most recent Android firmware.
Samsung firmware and upcoming hardware site SamMobile has discovered an Android 4.4.4 KitKat release for the Galaxy S3 Neo in Kazakhstan.
The update has the build number I9300IXXUBNH3, and is available for download through Kies, over-the-air, and via SamMobile’s firmware section.
It is a little strange that Samsung would roll out the Android 4.4.4 KitKat to the Galaxy S3 Neo instead of newer models, and in Kazakhstan, which is not Samsung’s region of focus.
Currently, Optus in Australia and some carriers in the UK are rolling out the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update for the Galaxy S5 or Galaxy S5 LTE-A.
As for the United States, XDA-Developers discovered that Sprint will carry the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update for the Galaxy S5 and the Galaxy Note 3.
Thus far, only the latest two Samsung devices, the Galaxy Alpha and the Galaxy Note 4, come with Android 4.4.4 KitKat on board.
Samsung is rather behind its competitors HTC, Sony, and Motorola in pushing out the Android 4.4.4 KitKat.
While the latest update itself only provides a security patch, users are still interested in the update because it carries the major patches made in Android 4.4.3 KitKat that fixes a number of issues with Android 4.4.2 KitKat.
Samsung is still rolling out the Android 4.4.2 KitKat to some phones models around the world.
