The Playstation 3 got a system update on Tuesday to version 3.55, according to an official Sony blog.

“A new PS3 system software update, v3.55, will be released soon. This is a minor update that adds a security patch,” Sony stated.

However, it is unclear as to what security holes are being patched.

The 3.50 firmware was jailbreakable but it is hard to tell if the new firmware will lose that capability, according to the Christian Science Monitor.

When Sony released firmware version 3.42, it nullified any jailbreaking done on previous versions. That means that users had to downgrade to 3.41 to exploit the firmware.
