The famed yellow shirts who held a 193-day long protest against former Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra have announced plans to become a political party.

People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) co-leader Sondhi Limthongkul shared the news at the first PAD general assembly held at Rangsit University on May 24.

Votes were casted by PAD supporters on Monday, May 25, on whether or not the party formation should proceed.

If the results are favorable, it will take approximately three months to set up, PAD coordinator Suriyasai Katasila said.

PAD will also no longer have yellow as the representative color, but a green and yellow as the new emblem color scheme.
