Sometimes our choices predict what is going to happen in the future, but usually, destiny takes the upper hand. In this story, fate takes a turn for the better.
In 2012, Justin Pounders was engaged to be married, when tragically, his fiancee, Adrianne Robert, a graphic artist, was murdered in Clearwater. Justin was totally devastated and couldn’t find any joy in life.
He then moved to Orlando, where his mom constantly encouraged him to find love again, refusing to let him give up.
In 2016, he decided to join match.com, a dating service. That’s when he found himself drawn to a photo of a young lady named Amy Giberson.
They got to know each other, and one day, Justin casually said he once had a crush on a girl with the name “Amy” and had always loved that name since then.
“I joked to him, ‘Well, it’s not me, so I don’t want to hear about her,’” said Amy.
On another day, Amy was curious to know more about a scar above Justin’s eye. He told her he had got it in St Petersburg’s Good Ol' Sunshine preschool. And it turned out to be the same St. Petersburg preschool that Amy attended.
When they realized they had both been to the same preschool together, they asked their parents to show them photos from back then.
“Justin’s mom found a photo of the two of us together and I just started crying, I was ecstatic. I was the Amy he had liked all those years ago! It was definitely meant to be,” said Amy.
Justin believes his murdered ex-fiancee is their “guardian angel” and is responsible for bringing him together with his preschool love from 30 years ago.
However, their beautiful love story didn’t just stop there. The couple welcomed their first baby boy, Conrad, in June 2018 after having three miscarriages. Amy said, “I would test positive and then lose it.” But after the birth of the first baby, they both were happy.
“Everything that’s transpired in our lives, us coming back together and making this beautiful little person, it’s all very surreal,” Amy said. “For Conrad Pounders to exist, it’s been a long journey, but it does feel like everything has come full circle.”
Over a year later, the parents welcomed another baby boy, named Brooks Montgomery Pounders, on Oct. 28, 2019.
She further added: “We love you boys more than anything in the world. Thank you for completing our family and filling our hearts with more love than we ever knew possible!”
