Planar Systems, a company that you probably haven’t heard of, has presented the Planar UltraRes 98” Touch – the largest sensor 4K display in the industry.
The device is capable of recognizing up to 32 simultaneous touches and this, along with the large size, allows several users to use the display at the same time.
The display provides 500 cd/m2 of brightness, pixel resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels and maximum durability thanks to Planar’s ERO (Extended Ruggedness and Optics) optical bonding technology that offers additional protection for safeguarding the Planar UltraRes 98” Touch in high-traffic and long-term use applications.
The bonded glass screen also improves optical performance and touch accuracy by eliminating the air gap between the protective glass and the LCD screen. The display also features a sleek design that comes with an attractive, logo-free, narrow bezel and advanced power management.
By using the latest generation LED backlit technology and passive cooling to achieve maximum energy efficiency the Planar UltraRes 98” Touch uses about 460 watts of power when operating and just 0.5W when in standby mode.
There are a few other Planar UltraRes models with display sizes of 28, 58, 65 and 84 inches. The first shipments of the display will occur by the end of this month. There’s no information on pricing as of now but the displays will not be cheap for sure, a fact that is especially true for the largest 98-inch model.
