The 33rd annual Orange County Youth Bureau Awards luncheon was held at Kuhl’s Highland House in Middletown.
County Executive Steven Neuhaus was on hand to recognize achievements of the county’s young people. “I think it’s great that we honor the young men and women that are actually changing the world,” Neuhaus said. “These students are doing some great things in their communities and should be recognized. I was honored to be a part of the ceremony.”
This year about 300 guests joined in the celebration of almost 80 honorees, which included students, youth workers, school-based professionals, local businesses, and county employees.
Many students honored with the Positive Change Leading to Success Award are often not traditional students with effective support systems who have always done well at school. A number of youth receiving the Spirit of Success Award have proven to be an inspiration in spite of significant physical and/or medical difficulties.
