On the morning of June 10th, Google moved quickly to first add and then remove a background image, a new feature on their homepage which upset faithful visitors partial to the classic white Google search page.

Multiple tech experts and internet watch dogs caught the short-lived change that is believed to have happened due to a technical glitch. The glitch could have cost the company millions of dollars in stock value, reports say.

Google made the top ten of its own Google Trends rating after millions of Google users searched the site for a way to remove the new background. The phrase “remove google background” hit the number seven slot in the top ten most common search term early Thursday morning, reported CNET News.

For Google users who still want to change the plain white background featured on the site, there is a link located in the bottom left corner. By clicking on the “change background image” link, users can pick from stock footage or upload images from their own computer. Images must be larger than 600 by 800 pixels.
