New Braunfels, Texas, saw a little light at the end of the tunnel after severe flooding damaged the town and killed one on Wednesday.

Houses throughout the town, located in Central Texes, were sifted through by local residents. Norman Walker, 65, was found dead after being retrieved from the Guadalupe River. The water was almost gone by Thursday morning, reported the American Statesman.

Multiple businesses were closed due to the flood, including the Schlitterbahn Waterpark Resort, a popular tourist attraction in the town.

Terry Walling spoke to reporters from American Statesman on the scene and indicated that things were not looking good for the citizens in the town.

“It’s just total devastation down here,” Walling told the newspaper.

The flood was brought on by storm that delivered 7 to 10 inches of rain depending on the location.

Meteorologist Chris Morris, from the National Weather Service in San Antonio, claims that rain fell in a time frame of only two hours.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry sent Blackhawk helicopters to the area to help with the cleanup efforts.

Fire department units from Austin, San Marcos, and San Antonio were sent to help citizens put the town back together.
