UPDATE: Fernando Castro has been shot and killed following a shootout with police. Pearl Pinson still considered missing. Full article here.

15-year-old Pearl Pinson, of Vallejo, California, was reportedly last seen being dragged on a pedestrian bridge—her face bloodied, and screaming for help.

The teen hasn’t been heard from since around 7 a.m. on May 25.

The Solano County Sheriff’s Office said it received several shots-fired calls near a pedestrian bridge that leads into Vallejo.

A witness, according to the sheriff’s office, reported seeing a white female, believed to be Pinson, being dragged by a Hispanic male, identified as 19-year-old Fernando Castro of Vallejo, on the over-crossing.

The female’s face was reportedly bleeding as she was yelling for someone to help. Castro reportedly had a firearm in his hand, and as the witness ran for help, a gun shot was heard.

Deputies responding to the pedestrian bridge found apparent blood markings, but no Castro or Pinson. A cell phone was reportedly also found at the scene.

The sheriff’s office said they are currently unable to confirm if Pinson was shot the extent of her injuries. It is unclear if the two left the area together; police aren’t aware of any associated vehicles.

Pinson was last seen wearing a grey sweater, black leggings, with a black and turquoise backpack; she currently has green hair, and has not been seen or heard from. She never arrived at her school, Jesse M. Bethel High School in Vallejo, on Wednesday, according to the sheriff’s office.

At around 2 a.m. on May 26, the sheriff’s office sent out an update, stating: “There are no significant updates at this point. We are continuing to work through the night to find Pearl safe and bring some comfort to this family. Please use this forum to share information in a positive way and not to point fingers and bash people.”
