At least 8,000 high school diplomas issued in Maryland were recalled after it was found that a word was misspelled, according to reports.
Prince George’s County recalled the diplomas for several high schools after it was found that the word “program” was spelled incorrectly, the Washington Post reported. The erroneous diplomas said students had completed an “approved progam of study.”
The printer of the diplomas, National Quality Products, said in a letter: “We understand the value of your hard work and achievement; therefore we are reprinting your diploma,” according to NBC Washington.
Terrence Odom, 18, a recent graduate of Oxon Hill High School, told the Post: “I’m really disappointed. I would think it would be somebody’s job to proof and reproof again, especially with something that serious.”
“We were all excited to get our diplomas. Now we have to wait to get the official one,” he added.
