The beginnings of the new movie My Week with Marilyn, in production at Pinewood Studios, were filmed at White Waltham airfield near Maidenhead, UK on Friday Oct. 8.

White Waltham airfield was redecorated into a 1950’s style in order to capture Marilyn Monroe’s arrival at Heathrow Airport in 1956. She left Hollywood to spend time in London to shoot her film, The Prince and the Showgirl, which starred Monroe (Michelle William) and Laurence Olivier (Kenneth Branagh).

According to the BBC, Olivier assigned Colin Clark (Eddie Redmayne) to keep an eye on Marilyn at all times, so Clark accompanied Monroe wherever she went. The new film is based on Clark’s diary, which recorded Marilyn’s stay in London during her filming period.

The film includes Clark’s memories of skinny-dipping in the Thames with Monroe, along with him taking her to visit his godfather at Windsor Castle.

Emma Watson plays her first adult role in this movie as a wardrobe assistant who worked behind the scenes during The Prince and the Showgirl’s filming.

Phillip Jackson acts as Monroe’s private detective; Zoe Wanamaker as Paula Strasberg, Monroe’s acting assistant; Richard Clifford as Richard Wattis, an actor in The Prince and the Showgirl; and Dominic Cooper as Milton Greene, Monroe’s co-producer of The Prince and the Showgirl and also her business partner.
