Luna Vachon, former professional wrestler, was found dead on Friday morning at age 48. The cause of death is unknown.

Vachon, whose real first name is Gertrude, was staying at her mother’s house in Florida after a fire destroyed her home and possessions, TMZ reported.

Vachon performed in World Wrestling Entertainment, Extreme Championship Wrestling, and World Championship Wrestling. She made her debut in 1985 with Florida Championship Wrestling.

WWE acknowledged her death on its website in a statement.

“World Wrestling Entertainment has been made aware of the passing of Gertrude (Luna) Vachon. WWE extends its deepest condolences to the Vachon family,” WWE stated.

“Ms. Vachon was under contract with WWE at various times from 1993 through 2000, and performed under the name ‘Luna’ Vachon. She last performed for WWE in early 2000.”

Vachon came from a family with a history in wrestling. Her father is WWE Hall of Famer Maurice “Mad Dog” Vachon, her aunt is former AWA World Women’s Champion Vivian Vachon, and her uncle is AWA World Tag Team Champion Paul “Butcher” Vachon.
