Chasing a Record

PSG coach Laurent Blanc has led the club to success in the league and the League Cup this season. But he still has one goal on his mind with just two rounds left.

“I hope we will take a few more points by the end of the season to break the record of points in the league,” Blanc said.

PSG is one point away from Lyon’s record of 84 set in 2005-06.

Third-place Lille is five points clear of Saint-Etienne but has not locked up the last Champions League berth yet.

PSG Extends Blanc’s Contract to 2016

PARIS— Paris Saint-Germain has extended coach Laurent Blanc’s contract to June 2016, a day after he guided the club to a fourth French league title.

Blanc was not even the club’s first choice to succeed Carlo Ancelotti last summer, but he has outdone his predecessor by leading PSG to a league and League Cup double.

PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi says “we are very happy with the outstanding season achieved by our team and with the elegant and successful style of play introduced by Laurent Blanc. He added that ”renewing our confidence in him was legitimate and self-evident. We are convinced that our team under his guidance will win many trophies in the next seasons.”

PSG clinched the French league title on Wednesday despite losing 2-1 to Rennes.
