Jim Carrey Ebay: Comedian and actor Jim Carrey said that some autographed photos of him on eBay are “fakes.” The eBay auctions were triggered by Carey’s recent vitriol against U.S gun violence.
Jim Carrey warned this week that autographed photos of him being sold on eBay are actually fakes.
In many of the eBay auctions, many of the sellers have said the proceeds from the Carrey photos will be used to buy a gun.
“A lot of the autographs you'll buy 4 guns online r fakes,” Carrey said on Twitter. “Jokes on both buyer and seller. Not to mention the karma. Your luck will be bad.”
Carrey recently made an anti-gun Funny or Die video that drew widespread condemnation from gun rights advocates.
The Hollywood Reporter said that eBay user astrobuzz made a listing that said, “Jim Carrey Autographed 8X10 Photo So I Can Afford a Gun!” But it was later taken down, and it is unclear if eBay was behind the move.
The user said the photo of Carrey, which includes the text “Spank you very much,” was being sold due to the Funny or Die video.
The Reporter noted that identical photos sell for usually $8, but astrobuzz’s listing generated 103 bids and had a price of $860 by Wednesday before it essentially disappeared.
On Thursday, Carrey again voiced his opinion about guns. “154 BULLETS FIRED AT SANDY HOOK! 2 handguns n a bushmaster rifle on Lanza. 1600 rnds of amo at his house. WE MUST STOP THIS!!” he tweeted.
